The Gujarat High Court is the high court of the Indian state of Gujarat and sits in Ahmedabad. It came into being on May 1, 1960, when the former State of Bombay was divided into the two states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, giving the new state its own high court. Its first Chief Justice was Sunderlal Trikamlal Desai, who sat with four puisne judges named on the court's own history page. At first the court functioned from premises near Akashwani in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, and on January 16, 1999 it moved to a new building at Sola in the same city. The court's address is now High Court of Gujarat, Sola, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, and it runs its own electronic filing and case status services for litigants.
