East Asian Civil Codes

Civil codes of Japan, China and Korea, which adopted European codification in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries and later wrote their own, among them the Japanese code of 1896 and 1898, the Chinese code of 2021 and the Korean codes. A code belongs here when its cited article describes a civil code of an East Asian state. It excludes the European models that inspired them. The group spans a century of revision, so a code is admitted whether it is the first modern code of its country or its latest rewrite.
