Rules of the Supreme Court

The Rules of the Supreme Court, abbreviated RSC, were the rules that governed civil procedure in the Supreme Court of Judicature of England and Wales, called the Senior Courts since 2009, from its formation in 1883 until 1999. They applied to all civil cases in that court commenced after the merger of the courts of common law and equity by the Judicature Acts, and were designed to replace the individual rules of the separate courts of law and equity with one harmonised set of procedural rules. On 26 April 1999 they were superseded by the Civil Procedure Rules, while civil proceedings in the county courts were governed by the separate County Court Rules.
