Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita

The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 is India's primary criminal procedure law, introduced in Parliament by Home Minister Amit Shah on December 12, 2023, passed by both houses by December 21, and given presidential assent on December 25, 2023 before commencing on July 1, 2024. It repeals the Code of Criminal Procedure and is one of three companion statutes overhauling India's criminal law, alongside the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which replaced the Indian Penal Code, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which replaced the Indian Evidence Act.
