Dutch Civil Code

The Dutch Civil Code, known in Dutch as the Burgerlijk Wetboek or BW, is the civil code of the Netherlands. Its early versions were largely based on the Napoleonic Code, and the code was substantively reformed in 1992. It is organized into numbered books covering the rights of natural persons, legal persons, patrimony and succession, the law of property including ownership, possession and security interests, obligations, contracts, and conflict of laws, with a further book on intellectual property proposed as a future addition.
