Titus Aufidius

Ancient and Roman Law Jurists

Titus Aufidius was a Roman jurist of the Aufidia family active in the first century BC. He served as quaestor around 84 BC and later as praetor of the province of Asia; his brother Marcus Virgilius had accused the Roman leader Sulla in 86 BC, and Aufidius himself may have stood against Cicero for the consulship of 63 BC. In his legal writing he followed the style of Titus Juventius and Publius Orbius, and Cicero described him as a good and harmless man, though no great orator, noting that he lived to an advanced age within Cicero's own lifetime.
