Municipal Code of Chicago

The Municipal Code of Chicago is the codification of the City of Chicago's local ordinances of a general and permanent nature. It contains original and new ordinances adopted by the Chicago City Council, organized into eighteen titles covering varying subject matter. The first Code of Chicago was adopted in 1837, and the current code, adopted on February 28, 1990, replaced and renumbered the previous code that had been adopted on August 30, 1939. The City Clerk of Chicago is responsible for maintaining a current copy of the code, and revisions must be published at least every six months.
